"Going to California with an aching in my heart"

"Someone told me there's a girl out there, with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair."

In an early morning hour drunken conversation, Elena and I decided that on the day after Christmas we were going to embark on a cross country road trip out to San Diego. It's really not strange for ideas like this to hatch around 3:30 am, especially after hours of steady cocktail consumption. But it still sounded good to me the next morning, after I took the necessary Advil and ate the customary greasy burger. So it's on.

I have never been west of Minneapolis, and now is my chance to see some of the country, and I really can't think of a better person to travel with than Elena. She is one of the few people I could tolerate being in tight quarters with for 3 days straight. Also, there is certain sense of romanticism about driving across the country with your best friend. I feel like I'm Jack Kerouac and the Dharma Bums, only with less drugs and more Fergalicious road mixes.

Regardless, this is a once in a lifetime trip, and I'm taking advantage of it.

Slaminky Malargy to you and yours...
