Be careful what you wish for

My mother told me that bit of advice back in the 8th grade when I bemoaned the lack of filler in my bra. And as much as I hate to admit it, she was as right then as that old adage is now. (I mean, if you have never met me in person, understand that these days I am not lacking in the boob department. Please do not misinterpret this to be boasting, because they are more of a pain than blessing.)

When I wrote that blog post on June 1st about wishing that smokin' hot ex-boyfriend would come back and tell me that he missed me and was an idiot for breaking my heart, I never thought that would actually happen. Although compliments are always so nice to hear, it took me entirely too long to get over him in the first place to respond in any way but rejection. Come on, do I really want to go down that road again? No thanks. I'm all stocked up on heartbreak for this year.

I really need to start thinking these wishes through. That, or this is more proof that I really am clairvoyant.

"I'm a travelin' man. I've made a lot of stops, all over the world."

Wow. Nice title. Remember that Ricky Nelson song? I used to love the "Pretty Polynesian baby, over the sea. I remember the night when we walked in the sands of Waikiki, and I held you oh so tight" part. We would always listen to "oldies" when my mom, sister and I would drive to the pool and I recall that song was a favorite of the DJ at that time. I was guaranteed to hear Ricky Nelson's teenybopper voice cooing through the speakers of that light blue Mazda at around 11:45 a.m. every weekday as I prepared myself for another day of pool rathood: sun bleaching my hair, sunburning my nose, and hopelessly flirting with lifeguards who were 14 years my senior.

Man, nostalgia can really sweep you away sometimes. Anyway, I just wanted to post a map of the states I've been. It's not that impressive, but I fully intend to travel to California, Oregon and Washington this upcoming year. I've got to work on that. Go west, young (wo)man!

Waiting for my Interview with Miami Ink

I spent the week in NYC with my friends Tracie, Chris, Megan and Jess. One of the highlights was giving Tracie some special tattoos while I was drunk and on the subway. This is from my "80s Pop Icon" collection. You can tell this is Phil Collins, because I've nicely labeled it for you. Also, he is singing "In the Air Tonight." I think he's gearing up for the big drum solo. I'm not entirely sure why he's still playing his old Genesis drum set. I decided to draw Steve Perry as he was basking in his solo record glory. He's singing his hit "Oh Sherrie" and again, I labeled both his name and the song. He is really proud of that song.

This might not be clear, but here is George Michael. There was no way that this vacation was going to go by without proper respect to sexiest part of Wham! He's wearing a leather jacket adorned with chains, a la his "Faith" video. Yet, he's singing "I Want Your Sex" because, he does.
Tracie was a willing and wonderful model for my art. I noticed many onlookers envious of her ink, and I happily offered to spread my talents, alas I had no takers. It's too late now, suckers.
