This is one of the many reasons I love her....

I am mad at myself, because I missed an online date with Tracie to watch the Dancing With the Stars 2 hour finale tonight. Usually I am an IM hound, checking away messages and whatnot throughout the day, and I didn't see the invitation because I was busy watching Singin' in the Rain. I also took a shower. On a Sunday. (Sadly, this is rare.)

So I went out to a fancy shmancy dinner with the folks (that is talking back to me now) and then went and watched DWTS with my cousin Andrea.

But Tracie left these messages for me.... I love her.

goldfish: tatum oneil is a drunken whore
goldfish: you're missing it!
goldfish: they brought all the kicked off dancers back
goldfish: i think i might become obsessed with george hamilton
goldfish: did you watch it last week?
goldfish: i missed it because I went to see Judy Shepard (SO SAD), but apparently it was magical!
goldfish: jerry rice wore an afro wig
goldfish: and i'd just like to point out that I TOTALLY called jerry rice as my dark horse on the very first day of this competition
goldfish: also, last week the wrestler danced to a wham song, marking their second appearance as background music
goldfish: the wrestler dances with her mouth open a lot
goldfish: she's a mouth breather
goldfish: heh
goldfish: the announcer douche just referred to jerry rice "getting his backfield in motion"
goldfish: i'm not sure what that means

Houdini

We had to put my dog down today. Not long ago I did a tribute to my little Chooch for his 14th birthday.

We got Chooch when I was 9 years old in the 4th grade. He was the only boy in a litter of 3, and his 2 sisters were wound tight and bounded about the cage. Chooch just sat in the corner kind of hanging back, trying to dodge his two crazy sisters. We knew instantly we wanted to take him home... Megan and I also knew that if we could just get Mom to see him she would fall in love with him too. We did, and she did.

I remember taking him home and we tried on names for size. My 6 year old sister was all about naming him "Buttercup" or "Nellibell," because those were the names of her first grade teacher's COWS. (I think they were cows...) We toyed around with the name "Joe" until mom suggested "Chooch," which means dumbass in Italian. Chooch was a pretty smart dog, but definitely had his moments where his name certainly fit him.

I know that everyone says this, but he was probably the best dog anyone could ask for. He was a magician. I swear that dog could slip by you without you knowing it so he could get into the trash can and scavange it for tissues.

You could get him all riled up and he would run in circles whether it be in the living room or the driveway. The older he got the less he would be able to run, and in the past 6 months, he didn't do it at all.

His favorite perfume was deer shit, but I honestly think he just rolled in it so he could get a bath... he LOVED them. He loved getting dried by the blowdryer and he enjoyed being brushed.

But of all the loves in his life, the first was cheese. He could hear the faint crinkle of a kraft single being opened from the opposite corner of the house.

He was a good dog, and he will never be able to be replaced. He is buried in our yard along with his collars, leash, bed, and 2 coins for the boatman.

Love you little Chooch.

Couch Olympics

Tonight Flounder and I watched Dancing With the Stars and the Olympics while we chatted online. I seriously think this is one of my new favorite guilty pleasures.... but publicly I will call it "multi-tasking."

I thought I would share some snippet of our conversation about many random topics.

(About Lisa Rina and her partner Louie):
Tracie: i want the chick with the LIPS to get voted off
Erin: Lisa Rina??
T: yeah, i don't like her. i didn't like her when she was on days of our lives either. i liked the other billy. so my bias goes way back
T: and her partner annoys me
E: I like her partner. I am strangely attracted to him
T: hahahaha
E: don't judge me
T: with the mullet?
E: it's not a mullet. it's a pompador
E: look at me defend him. AND use the correct nomenclature
T: defend him with "pompador"
T: not quite a solid defense
E: he couldn't be more gay either
T: i know
E: does that make me a gay man?
T: and that is sort of charming
E: maybe he isn't and just a really good dancer...?
T: no, he's gay
E: yeah... he just mouthed, "I am a material girl"
T: i know!
E: and didn't follow it with "or boy"
T: hahahahahahah
E: I like his white jazz shoes

(About Drew Lachey and his partner):

T: drew is really cute, too. even though he wears lifts because he's a midge
E: he's not wearing lifts... those are cuban heels
T: TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART!
E: I KNOW!!!!!
E: I wonder if she is going to do the Old School Lyrics
T: hahahahaha
E: his shoes are just like those of Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing
T: they are!
E: which makes me want to touch myself

Now watching the Olympics:

T: i love the olympics
E: I always laugh when I see a Germany gold ceremony
E: because I sing Westerville North's Alma Mater
T: i knew that sounded familiar!!

E: it makes me sad that there is NO CHANCE of me ever making it there
E: unless there is a keg stand category
T: we'd sweep the podium
E: we really would
T: sometimes i feel like i could learn to cross country ski
E: yikes... that's like one of the hardest ones
T: but it looks like such a good work out!
E that is like me saying I am gonna start doing the marathon
T: I'm also convinced that i'd be AWESOME at the luge
E: I think you and I would make a great curling team
T: definitely!
E: dude, I want some iced sugar cookies
E: and a huge glass of milk
T: yeah!
E: .... and it's comments like those why I won't be an olympic champion
T: i've been eating twizzlers all night

Tracie: dream the olympic dream!

Blogroll

I added some new links. These are all of my daily reads, and they bring all bring a smile to my face whether they talk about their many impaired dogs (TU), throwing up through their nose (HDL), their international travels (P2Q), or if they just have a flair for humor (Daily Mumps, The Daily Dump and the Impulsive Buy).

So do yourself a favor and check them out... along with the ones I already had linked.

Just in time for Valentine's Day!

I have been pretty lonely lately. I see my friends get all pumped for Valentine's day, by buying new clothes and gifts and planning special nights out.

So I went to the trusty internet and started to peruse the various personal advertisements in hopes to find a last minute date for V-Day.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found my dream man .... I never thought I could find love on the world wide web.

He is already planning a trip for us, which is kind of moving fast, but I think I can trust a man THAT good looking... right?

Wish me luck on our journey together.

Beauty Slut

In correlation to Marit's recent post "Fittin' to Strippin'", I thought I would share an email I got from Jude. I asked him if he needed any help with a workload that was dumped on him last minute. (Because I have a lot of time on my hands.)

This is what he responded with:

"I would. But these are my brands. I know more about the beauty world than 93% of women. That’s why they came to me. Cause I’m a beauty slut and I can knock it out quick. I really AM Judith."

Now I know where to go for some quality girl talk.

Side note: Remember the board game "Girl Talk"? I owned and and LOVED it. You had to do truth or dares and there were little "zit" stickers if you didnt' complete a dare. It was almost as good as Mall Madness.

One Year...

Today is my one year anniversary of blogging. My blogaversary, if you will. I have been asked the meaning of my blog title, and although I have assured those who inquired it was nothing special, I thought I would share the story of Slaminky Malargy today.

I hope I still have readers after this lame story.

Back in high school, I occasionally smoked The Pot. (In college, I indulged more than "occasionally.") When I smoked with my friend L, we would make up raps or songs... and then laugh... a lot. This one time, we reached a new level of high and we decided to take a trip (not an LSD trip, but a journey) to a ficticious world..... Jorkenland.

You can start your trip to Jorkenland by either drinking or smoking pot, although I prefer the shibby. (I suppose any mind altering drug will do, but I have done nothing other than these so...yeah)

Anyway to get to Jorkenland you have to "risk your good fortune's luck" and "pass the Limbo Sticks of Limbia," and there you are in Jorkenland. Upon arrival you are greeted with a hearty SLAMINKY MALARGY!!, which is a well-wishing hello of good fortune and luck. Go figure.

That is basically the extent of Jorkenland. It is a wonderful place where many laughs and dreams are shared but very rarely remembered. Although I haven't been to Jorkenland in quite sometime, L and I still greet each other with Slaminky Malargy, and that is why I use it as my salutation.

So Happy One Year to me.

Good fortune and luck to you and yours....

I hate to admit that...

-I am currently watching Late Night with Carson Daly.... he is such a tool.

-I almost downloaded a Spice Girls song tonight... "Holler" to be exact.

-I want to see "Something New". It comes to theaters Friday.

-I alphabetize my DVDs.

-I haven't done my hair or put makeup on since Saturday night... and until tonight, hadn't shaved my legs.

-I watched Miss Congeniality 2 last night, and laughed out loud more than 5 times.

-I may camp out for the impending release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I think it comes to theaters in July.

-I am extremely jealous of Abby's purchase of 2 unicorn shirts today.

-I had to unwedge my underwear from my ass in front of an entire court of men playing basketball after an unfortunate session on the excercise bike.

-I can't wait to go to a country concert so I can wear my cowboy hat.

-I get ready to face the day with a soundtrack in the morning.

Who am I kidding.... I'm not ashamed of any of this.
